I will receive mail addressed to me, with the line "ATTN: Any Soldier" (or) "ATTN: Any Female Soldier" under my name. I am to pass on this mail and packages to the soldiers that don't get much or any mail first, but I am allowed to keep anything I deem I should within the intent of the effort. I am free to check each and every package for contraband or how I want to distribute the contents. I am not free to sell anything I get from this effort, send to back my family, or otherwise use the support for my own gain. I understand that this is a completely voluntary support effort. There are no safety filters in this except for myself and my soldiers. I realize it is possible somebody may send something to me that I really shouldn't get or want. For safety's sake I will follow the, "If in doubt, throw it out!" rule. AnySoldier.com tells folks not to send home-made items like cookies, and strongly request your soldiers do not eat anything that is not in a factory sealed package. There have not been any reports of any bad packages, but I will be mindful that anything is possible. Safety is always first. I will stress this to my soldiers. What I write on this application will be read by many people, so I will NOT USE ALL CAPS or all lowercase, check my spelling and grammar, etc... I realize that I am 'talking' to a mostly civilian audience. I realize that the AnySoldier.com site has a search engine so folks can identify units that request particular items. I will write what my soldiers want and need and maintain contact and updates as to our conditions and needs. I will fully complete the form. Doing so will speed my approval. The units with pictures are getting more attention then the others. AnySoldier.com is 110% voluntary, both ways. We fully understand that soldiers may not be able to reply to those who send things, and that it is unlawful to require it. Make sure that if they do reply that it is 110% voluntary (NOT the Army definition of voluntary ;) Folks are told to NOT send homemade stuff like cookies, etc. It is NOT SAFE for the soldiers to eat stuff that is not factory sealed. Please ensure they toss anything the least bit suspicious, even the world's best home baked cookies. "AnySoldier" packages are to be handed out by YOU and ONLY YOU! We had trouble during the holidays with APO folks jumping the gun. Tell your APO contacts this. Also, you handle packages any way you want. Some contacts open the packages first to check them, some don't. Your call. Feedback, please!
