The Holidays are here, and we are all coping with missing home the best we can. The Chaplain’s office is doing our best to keep the morale high during this holiday season. We have gathered toys for young Marines with children to send home as presents, since we don’t have a toy shop here, we made one. We also served Thanksgiving dinner at the chow hall and conducted worship services.
The Marines and Sailors of MAG 26 have been gathering toys and school supplies for the local Iraqi children, giving them a fulfilled sense of pride and automatic feeling of accomplishing good in a chaotic place. While we have our own hardships, we would like to look out for the children of the area, and ask for your support. Beanie babies, and other small toys that are easy to carry and distribute would be greatly appreciated.
We do have electricity, from time to time, it is 220, converters and power strips are hard to come by, and the water is out, a lot. Any comforts of home are always appreciated, but we are signing up here to ask for help so that we may help others.
We also provide morale calls for thousands of Marines, Sailors, and Soldiers on this base while we circuit ride from one area to the next. One thing we like to share is a movie, watching a DVD on the portable laptop we carry with us. If you would like to send a DVD, we will ensure as many people as possible get a little taste of home – especially with all the movies we are missing being out here.
Childrens toys, shoes, games, elementary school supplies, anything that would work in the Talcum Powdered sands of this desert.
Thank you for your support, it makes us all feel appreciated.
