22 Nov 2006:
Well it is hard to believe it has been another 45 days but it has so I am sending another update. We are doing well and really appreciate all of the support and packages you send. Fall is here and so are the cooler temps. Our highs are in the 60's and 70's vs. the 140's for this past summer. I did see snow on the mountain tops as we went to Musekel yesterday. Winter is just around the corner now.

Things have been busy and we are trying to get to all of the remote villages before winter set in for the duration. We went to the Very Remote village of Musekel yesterday to drop off warm blankets and to see the Police Commander. It took us almost 3 hours to go 30 miles because the roads wind up and thru the mountain passes. I have a pile of school supplies and Beanies we will distribute on our next stop to the Minister of Educations office. And I am always giving out candy when we stop in any village when time permits. Please rest assured all of the things you send for the children are going to them. I have attached two new pictures.

The first is from a remote village we went to a few weeks ago to provide medical assistance and the second is from our trip yesterday to Musekel.

As for the Sailors and Soldiers of PRT Khowst we a doing fine. With the holiday season rapidly approaching we are working diligently to keep the spirits high for all of our troops. We are going to have a nice Thanksgiving dinner this week and are planning a Christmas Party for all. We are here to help the Afghan people but never forget we are American Service Men and Women. We make time to give our troops some much needed time off and allow them to celebrate our holidays.

For the wish list for the Troops:

Food and goodies:

Microwaveable meals, The chow hall gets old after a while
Munchies of any shape and form
Flavored Coffee Creamer, A favorite in the chow hall
Drink Mix for bottled water

As winter approaches:

Boot socks, Black or Green
seal skin gloves
Poly Pro Long underwear, Black or Tan
Ski Mask, Black
Knit Caps, Black
Gloves, Black

Once again thank you for your generosity. The troops thank you!!!

First , Once Again let me thank the Extraordinary Men and Women who support my troops here in sunny Khowst Afghanistan. All of your care packages are Greatly Appreciated by all.

When it comes to the Sailors and Soldiers they love all of the goodies you send. Mail day is like Christmas every week. It makes my day to go around and ask the troops if they would like or need anything special from home. We really do try to accommodate them as best possible. The Any Soldier/Sailor program is a great morale boost for all. We do have a few young servicemen and women who do not get much from home so we take extra care to ensure they get things they would like or need.

The beanie babies are still popular s well as the hard candy. The kids get to see the Doc, get their shots and get a prize for being strong. All of the School Supplies are going to a local orphanage here in Khowst and the children are very grateful for all of the things we drop off. We try to go at least once a month and help with what we can. On our next trip I will be sure to get some photos to post.

Once again Thank You from the Men and Women from PRT Khowst.

17 Jul 2006
Sorry for the Delay in updating my AnySoldier account we have been pretty busy here in Khowst Afghanistan.

Well the first 90 days are behind us now and we have many construction projects complete and several more starting in the next few weeks.

Our mission here is for the Hearts and Minds of the Afghan people. We provide medical care for the locals, supply schools with basic needs and hopefully give the children a little bit of America with every trip to see the Doctor or School Visit.

I do really appreciate all of the candy and Beanie Babies you have sent. The kids love them!!! I have attached a few photos from a recent Medical Clinic we held and you can see the joy in their face a little bit of candy or a stuffed animal makes.

The same goes for the things sent for our troops. I am unable to send you photos of the individuals who have received presents I can tell you they really do appreciate the things sent. You would be surprised to see the joy on the face of a Security Sentry when you give him a package of Swisher Sweets, a Portable CD Player, MP3 Player and the list goes on. They really do know they are cared about by the folks back home.

Updated requests:

Anything Tactical for 9mm Beretta or the M16/M4 Rifle
Music of ANY Genre
MP3 players
Movie DVD’s

From the Men and Women of PRT Khowst Afghanistan, Thank you!!!

I am the Senior Enlisted Navy advisor for a Navy/Army group supporting the Afghan Govt to rebuild. We have Sailors from E1 to E9. many of the younger Sailors love electronics, video games and Maxim, GQ and other type magazines.

We also give stuff to the local children like Beannie Babies and HARD candy. We love chocolate but it turns into a blob by the time it gets here.

IMPORTANT! DO NOT PRINT THIS PAGE!!!

Why? Because this list changes all the time due to unit movements, soldier transfers, or even soldier casualties.
It is also illegal. ALL content on this site is copyright Any Soldier Inc.
DO NOT send any letter or package to a soldier's address unless you check this web site the same day you mail your packages.
Please do not burden the soldiers or the APO/FPO by sending things when the soldiers are gone. If a soldier is not listed here anymore then that soldier's address is expired. Check here often!

Note that some of the units do not have ranks shown on their addresses.
This is done at the unit's request, but ALL of our contacts ARE Servicemembers.

Be sure to change the "ATTN" line to "ATTN: Any Female Sailor if your package is for a female!

DO NOT use this program if you expect or require a reply!
DO NOT expect, or require, a reply from a Sailor!
A supporter said it perfectly, "I mean, these guys and gals have other things on their minds, y’know? Like...oh, STAYING ALIVE?"

(NOTE *): Effective 1 May 2006 this web site added a major layer of security to our contacts' information. This change is necessary to protect our troops and ensure that Any Soldier will continue to operate.
The ONLY changes are that the addresses of our contacts are now hidden and the number of addresses you can get are limited. You may obtain addresses simply by clicking on the link provided and correctly filling out the form, the address will then be emailed to you immediately.

(NOTE **): The number shown is how many times a form was submitted requesting this address. This does NOT necessarily mean that this contact will be helped by that many folks. Rule of thumb is that anything 5 requests or less may in fact be no support at all. No way to tell exactly unless the contact lets you know in his/her update how much support they are getting.

(Note 1.): Note that postage to APO AE and FPO AE (E = Europe) is only to NY where the connection to the APO/FPO (APO = Army Post Office)(FPO = Fleet Post Office) is, or to San Francisco for APO AP and FPO AP (P = Pacific), so you don't pay postage all the way to Iraq/Afghanistan. You might consider picking contacts closer to your mailing area to help cut the cost of mailing. If you live on the East Coast, pick "AE", West Coast, pick "AP", Midwest, well...uh, Thank You for your Support! ;)

New with us (December 2005) you might notice "APO AA" and "FPO AA". This is for units in the Caribbean/South America. Normally. However, due to the nature of some units they may be in Iraq but have an address showing "FPO AA". Mail addresses to "AA" goes out of Miami, Florida.

(Note 2.): Why are military addresses weird? There isn't a street address or city. What gives? Correct, just about everything about the military is weird to civilians. Military units are very mobile, they move around a lot, often they even become part of another unit. The APO (Army Post Office) and FPO (Fleet Post Office) assign APO and FPO numbers as needed, they are NOT static. An APO/FPO number may be for a large unit, or a location. An APO/FPO number for Baghdad today may be for Frankfurt tomorrow.

(Note 3.): The "Expect to not mail past" date is only an approximate and is one of the least reliable things on this web site. It is because of this that you must check often before you send anything to this unit. There are a few reasons this date is not reliable, to include: it IS the Military, we ARE dealing with the APO/FPO/DPO. The only thing that does not change in the military is that things will change. PLEASE NOTE that a Contact is dropped off our active list 30 days PRIOR to their date leaving to help avoid mail bouncing.

(Note 4.): (Removed for OPSEC reasons)

(Note 5.): The lines, "Contact with approx number of Soldiers:" and "Approx how may Female Soldiers:" have NOTHING to do with unit strength. They are approximately how many other Troops the Contacts believe they can get packages to. This helps you understand that you should not send 100 packages to someone who only deals with 10 Troops.
Don't forget that if your package is for a female Soldier, be sure to change "ATTN: Any Soldier®" to "ATTN: Any Female Soldier".

( Note 6.): This is simply where the unit this contact is from. This is NOT a true picture of the folks in the unit as most all units are made up of folks from all over the United States.) A "Composite Unit" is one made up of other units and is usually temporary for a particular mission.

( Note 7.): Updated APO/FPO/DPO mailing restrictions> courtesy of Oconus.com (gone now) (Note: About Restriction "U2": "U2 - Limited to First Class Letters", Box "R" is for retired personnel that live overseas and are still authorized an APO/FPO box. Their address will be something like Box 3345R. Doubt you will see anything like that in Afghanistan or Iraq or ...)(Please Note: Sometime in August 2013, Oconus.com changed the code on their page and our form doesn't work with them anymore, so a link to their page is the best we can do, sorry.)
