21 Feb 2007:
Hello everyone, my year tour is running down to an end...I have 60 days and change, and I'm incredibly ready to leave. New news is that since I have started working for ISAF, more of the International Forces have moved and more American Forces have come in. It is just like being on a regular base. To all the supporters, I have kept in touch with most of them, but I want to say thank you once again from all of us here. Have a wonderful Navy Day-Hoorah. Take Care, Janny
02 Jan 2007 Hello, Happy New Year to everyone. I want to thank everyone who has supported us over the holiday season, it really made us have a bit of home here. It did start snowing on Christmas Eve and didn't stop until the 26th, we here in Kabul truely had a white Christmas. Now that the snow has started to melt we are being left with ice, let me be the first to tell you it hurts when you fall :) Well it was actually my first snowy Christmas, I'll have to send you a picture of the 2 snowmen and 1 snow dog that I built while standing watch on Christmas Eve...it was a lot of fun. Wishing all the supporters of foreign deployed troops much happiness throughout this New Year. I officially have 124 days left, it can't come fast enough. Take care and thank you once again. Respectfully, Janny
08 Nov 2006 Hello everyone. It's that time, I'm at my 6 month mark and will departing in a couple days to see loved ones. Whoo never thought it would come, 6 months has dragged on (here's hoping the last 6 months go within a blink of an eye). I'm very excited to get back to normalcy, I just hope ~I~ haven't missed out on too much. For my leave of 2 weeks I plan on relaxing, sitting back, drinking coffee, eating turkey and birthday cake, and breathing the fresh(er) air-ha-ha. I thank the continued support once again, as do the few American troops that came along with the transition. I have received letters and packages from many supporters and have become well acquainted with many of them, I want to wish them all a Happy Thanksgiving; additionally to all of the anysoldier.com crew. Have a great day. Best Wishes, Janny
04 Oct 2006 Address Has Changed Hello, well I have officially moved from CFC-A to ISAF, which is comprised of coalition forces. I just wanted to provide you with a new mailing address. I have to say this transition was a pretty easy one considering we literally just moved down the street, but has to be the most interesting and challenging. There is definetly a language barrier, but it is an adventure I am trying and will continue to make the best out of the situation. I have my leave in November to look forward to. I would like to say thank you for all the continued support. It really has been a comfort to know we are not forgotten, the care packages make the days lighter, it makes us smile. So thanks again. Janny
25 Aug 2006 Hello all, just wanted to let you all know that we here in Kabul, Afghanistan are doing well. We continue to be pleasantly surprised with all the care packages and letters. I will shortly be going to a different command to work with coalition forces and that should be an adventure; getting to see how other countries contribute to the war fighting efforts. Once again thank you very much for the support. God Bless, Janny
06 Jul 2006
Here is a picture that was taken on the 4th of July, what a great morale booster. Plus it is something I have always wanted to do, beware they do not smell the best!! I would also like to say thank you to all the families and organizations whom have been sending things, it means everything to us. Thank you again. Very Respectfully, Janny

Here is a photo of me in Kabul, Afghanistan taken about 1 month ago. V/R, Janny Gomes Santos
17 Jun 2006 My name is Janny Santos, and I am in the U.S. Navy. I have been serving for 6 years, I joined the Navy to see the world, and to get an education. Graduating with honors at just 17 straight from H.S, opportunities were available; but choose to take a different approach to life. Vice going thru college I wanted to see the world first, then attain my goals for the future. I knew if I didn't go now I might never in fact see what I was missing. I finished boot camp and my schooling and picked orders to be stationed on the USS Emory S. Land in Italy; arriving in Feb 2001. Just freshly in the Navy we were deployed when the proceedings of September 11 occurred, that was the moment I knew my Naval career would forever change. We proceeded to stay at sea, and went into battle formation with other ships, I was seeing the Navy clearly for the first time; it sent a sense of pride through me, I was in fact proud. The situation of the events were devastating, but I knew I was one small link in the chain making it overall stronger. I was making a difference. I am now currently deployed from Rota, Spain, yes I miss it very much, I volunteered to come to Afghanistan, I have to say being here for a little while now-It is very different but a journey. Thank you for supporting us through this, God Bless. Supplies we need: *Shampoo/Conditioner *Soap *Coffee (my favorite) *Drink packet's (i.e.,crystal light) *Snack foods *baby wipes *hand sanitizer *Mouth Wash *Face/body Moisturizers Thank you, Janny

IMPORTANT! DO NOT PRINT THIS PAGE!!!
Why? Because this list changes all the time due to unit movements, soldier transfers, or even soldier casualties.
It is also illegal. ALL content on this site is copyright Any Soldier Inc.
DO NOT send any letter or package to a soldier's address unless you check this web site the same day you mail your packages.
Please do not burden the soldiers or the APO/FPO by sending things when the soldiers are gone. If a soldier is not listed here anymore then that soldier's address is expired. Check here often!
Note that some of the units do not have ranks shown on their addresses.
This is done at the unit's request, but ALL of our contacts ARE Servicemembers.
Be sure to change the "ATTN" line to "ATTN: Any Female Sailor
if your package is for a female!
DO NOT use this program if you expect or require a reply!
DO NOT expect, or require, a reply from a Sailor!
A supporter said it perfectly, "I mean, these guys and gals have other things on their minds, y’know? Like...oh, STAYING ALIVE?"
(NOTE *): Effective 1 May 2006 this web site added a major layer of security to our contacts' information. This change is necessary to protect our troops and ensure that Any Soldier will continue to operate.
The ONLY changes are that the addresses of our contacts are now hidden and the number of addresses you can get are limited. You may obtain addresses simply by clicking on the link provided and correctly filling out the form, the address will then be emailed to you immediately.
(NOTE **): The number shown is how many times a form was submitted requesting this address. This does NOT necessarily mean that this contact will be helped by that many folks. Rule of thumb is that anything 5 requests or less may in fact be no support at all. No way to tell exactly unless the contact lets you know in his/her update how much support they are getting.
(Note 1.): Note that postage to APO AE and FPO AE (E = Europe) is only to NY where the connection to the APO/FPO (APO = Army Post Office)(FPO = Fleet Post Office) is, or to San Francisco for APO AP and FPO AP (P = Pacific), so you don't pay postage all the way to Iraq/Afghanistan.
You might consider picking contacts closer to your mailing area to help cut the cost of mailing. If you live on the East Coast, pick "AE", West Coast, pick "AP", Midwest, well...uh, Thank You for your Support! ;)
New with us (December 2005) you might notice "APO AA" and "FPO AA". This is for units in the Caribbean/South America. Normally. However, due to the nature of some units they may be in Iraq but have an address showing "FPO AA". Mail addresses to "AA" goes out of Miami, Florida.
(Note 2.): Why are military addresses weird? There isn't a street address or city. What gives? Correct, just about everything about the military is weird to civilians. Military units are very mobile, they move around a lot, often they even become part of another unit. The APO (Army Post Office) and FPO (Fleet Post Office) assign APO and FPO numbers as needed, they are NOT static. An APO/FPO number may be for a large unit, or a location. An APO/FPO number for Baghdad today may be for Frankfurt tomorrow.
(Note 3.): The "Expect to not mail past" date is only an approximate and is one of the least reliable things on this web site. It is because of this that you must check often before you send anything to this unit. There are a few reasons this date is not reliable, to include: it IS the Military, we ARE dealing with the APO/FPO/DPO. The only thing that does not change in the military is that things will change. PLEASE NOTE that a Contact is dropped off our active list 30 days PRIOR to their date leaving to help avoid mail bouncing.
(Note 4.): (Removed for OPSEC reasons)
(Note 5.): The lines, "Contact with approx number of Soldiers:" and "Approx how may Female Soldiers:" have NOTHING to do with unit strength. They are approximately how many other Troops the Contacts believe they can get packages to. This helps you understand that you should not send 100 packages to someone who only deals with 10 Troops.
Don't forget that if your package is for a female Soldier, be sure to change "ATTN: Any Soldier®" to "ATTN: Any Female Soldier".
(
Note 6.): This is simply where the unit this contact is from. This is NOT a true picture of the folks in the unit as most all units are made up of folks from all over the United States.) A "Composite Unit" is one made up of other units and is usually temporary for a particular mission.
(
Note 7.): Updated APO/FPO/DPO mailing restrictions> courtesy of Oconus.com (gone now)
(Note: About Restriction "U2": "U2 - Limited to First Class Letters", Box "R" is for retired personnel that live overseas and are still authorized an APO/FPO box. Their address will be something like Box 3345R. Doubt you will see anything like that in Afghanistan or Iraq or ...)(Please Note: Sometime in August 2013, Oconus.com changed the code on their page and our form doesn't work with them anymore, so a link to their page is the best we can do, sorry.)
