11 Jun 2005:
Hi all! How are you? I am fine. It's another B-E-A-YOU-Tiful day with High Temperatures and EXTREMLY High Humidity. We are currently floating in the gulf somewhere, which you all probably know. Were are YOU right now? I want to go home but our mission isn't done. It's not too bad though. The port visits have been interesting enough and there is pleanty going on on the ship. I've made some new friends on board and it isn't so lonely out here any more. I can't wait to get to Virginia and see if anything has changed in Newport and Norfolk in the past 3 and 1/2 years since I was @ Fort Meade for "A" School. First thing I am going to do in VA, though, is go to bed and sleep as much as possible. I also want to make a big celebration dinner. Maybe lamb chops, mixed veggies, and potatoes Au Gratin... Sound good to you? As most of you have heard, two of our pilots perished in flight, last month. Things were really tense and many people were sad. They had a BEAUTIFUL remembrance ceremony for them and many cried. Their pictures were place side by side with their helmets and many people took the podium and remenisced on good times that they'd gone through with our fallen comrads. 10 May 2005 Recently, the USS Carl Vinson had had Australian sailors from the HMAS Darwin embark on our ship while some of our sailors went on theirs. One of them was the 24 year old ABSTD Justin "Woolly" Woolcock (The equivelent of OUR Navy's E-5 2nd class petty officer). He had lots of fun talking with our sailors about shipboard life and what they want to do once they get out of the Navy. Justin sang karaoke and ate pizza with us on Saturday night, ate chow with us on the messdecks, observed flight ops from the 0-10 and the flightdeck, and he even exchanged emails with some of the sailors to keep in touch with them. Here are some pictures of ABSTD Woolcock. V/R: PHAN Sherry L. Peck
27 Mar 2005 A LOT of people have been sending packages with MASSES of hotel soaps/ shampoos/ razors/ conditioners We CAN'T distribute those. I got FOUR boxes full of Hampton Inns bar soap yesterday and had to toss it all. No one will use it. Sorry! V/R: PHAN Sherry L. Peck 24 Mar 2005 Hi, it's Photographer's Mate airman Peck again. WOW! We have got such an awesome reply from you guys. One things though, we are in a VERY hot and humid place so we really don't have any need for slippers, hats, and beanies. Plus, if they are pink and yellow and orange and blue, we can't wear them anyhow. All clothing has to be Navy blue, medium gray, or black. (SORRY!) As for chocolates, we can't really accept them, they melt before they get to us. Good things to send would be: top ramen, trail mix, dried fruit, assorted tea, gatorade mix, coolade mix, magic shave, body soap, shampoo, conditioner, lotion, foot powder, feminine supplies, easy mac, granola bars, nutrigran bars, jerky, candy that isn't chocolate, stuff like that. One thing though. If you send us stuff that needs to microwaved, we don't have microwavable bowls or plastic "Silverware". So, if you CAN, please send a microwavable bowl with a plastic fork/ spoon along with it. One lady sent me PURE maple syrup! It was SOOO good! I still have it. I use it to sweeten my tea. Another lady sent us a box full of fruit chew, top ramen and beef jerky. I put the box out on the table and everything was gone in 15 minutes. We are SOOO grateful for your support. You should see us everytime they call mail call over the 1MC. I dash out the door while everyone yells for me to get get the mail! LOL! One thing though, one lady said she sent us some tang, some top ramen, some deer jerky and some bandaids two months ago. I haven't received the package yet but I probably will soon. If you're reading this, it takes a while for packages to get to us, depending on what our schedule is. Please be patient. Very Respectfully, PHAN Sherry "La Luna Bella" Peck
02 Feb 2005 To Whom It May Concern, Due to operational security and the fact that we are NOT, in fact, IN the medeterranian sea, I respectfully request that you remove any and ALL USS Carl Vinson sailors from your website and mailing list as well as any and ALL info about the Carl Vinson that I or anyone else sent you. Very Respectfully, PHAN Peck

IMPORTANT! DO NOT PRINT THIS PAGE!!!
Why? Because this list changes all the time due to unit movements, soldier transfers, or even soldier casualties.
It is also illegal. ALL content on this site is copyright Any Soldier Inc.
DO NOT send any letter or package to a soldier's address unless you check this web site the same day you mail your packages.
Please do not burden the soldiers or the APO/FPO by sending things when the soldiers are gone. If a soldier is not listed here anymore then that soldier's address is expired. Check here often!
Note that some of the units do not have ranks shown on their addresses.
This is done at the unit's request, but ALL of our contacts ARE Servicemembers.
Be sure to change the "ATTN" line to "ATTN: Any Female Sailor
if your package is for a female!
DO NOT use this program if you expect or require a reply!
DO NOT expect, or require, a reply from a Sailor!
A supporter said it perfectly, "I mean, these guys and gals have other things on their minds, y’know? Like...oh, STAYING ALIVE?"
(NOTE *): Effective 1 May 2006 this web site added a major layer of security to our contacts' information. This change is necessary to protect our troops and ensure that Any Soldier will continue to operate.
The ONLY changes are that the addresses of our contacts are now hidden and the number of addresses you can get are limited. You may obtain addresses simply by clicking on the link provided and correctly filling out the form, the address will then be emailed to you immediately.
(NOTE **): The number shown is how many times a form was submitted requesting this address. This does NOT necessarily mean that this contact will be helped by that many folks. Rule of thumb is that anything 5 requests or less may in fact be no support at all. No way to tell exactly unless the contact lets you know in his/her update how much support they are getting.
(Note 1.): Note that postage to APO AE and FPO AE (E = Europe) is only to NY where the connection to the APO/FPO (APO = Army Post Office)(FPO = Fleet Post Office) is, or to San Francisco for APO AP and FPO AP (P = Pacific), so you don't pay postage all the way to Iraq/Afghanistan.
You might consider picking contacts closer to your mailing area to help cut the cost of mailing. If you live on the East Coast, pick "AE", West Coast, pick "AP", Midwest, well...uh, Thank You for your Support! ;)
New with us (December 2005) you might notice "APO AA" and "FPO AA". This is for units in the Caribbean/South America. Normally. However, due to the nature of some units they may be in Iraq but have an address showing "FPO AA". Mail addresses to "AA" goes out of Miami, Florida.
(Note 2.): Why are military addresses weird? There isn't a street address or city. What gives? Correct, just about everything about the military is weird to civilians. Military units are very mobile, they move around a lot, often they even become part of another unit. The APO (Army Post Office) and FPO (Fleet Post Office) assign APO and FPO numbers as needed, they are NOT static. An APO/FPO number may be for a large unit, or a location. An APO/FPO number for Baghdad today may be for Frankfurt tomorrow.
(Note 3.): The "Expect to not mail past" date is only an approximate and is one of the least reliable things on this web site. It is because of this that you must check often before you send anything to this unit. There are a few reasons this date is not reliable, to include: it IS the Military, we ARE dealing with the APO/FPO/DPO. The only thing that does not change in the military is that things will change. PLEASE NOTE that a Contact is dropped off our active list 30 days PRIOR to their date leaving to help avoid mail bouncing.
(Note 4.): (Removed for OPSEC reasons)
(Note 5.): The lines, "Contact with approx number of Soldiers:" and "Approx how may Female Soldiers:" have NOTHING to do with unit strength. They are approximately how many other Troops the Contacts believe they can get packages to. This helps you understand that you should not send 100 packages to someone who only deals with 10 Troops.
Don't forget that if your package is for a female Soldier, be sure to change "ATTN: Any Soldier®" to "ATTN: Any Female Soldier".
(
Note 6.): This is simply where the unit this contact is from. This is NOT a true picture of the folks in the unit as most all units are made up of folks from all over the United States.) A "Composite Unit" is one made up of other units and is usually temporary for a particular mission.
(
Note 7.): Updated APO/FPO/DPO mailing restrictions> courtesy of Oconus.com (gone now)
(Note: About Restriction "U2": "U2 - Limited to First Class Letters", Box "R" is for retired personnel that live overseas and are still authorized an APO/FPO box. Their address will be something like Box 3345R. Doubt you will see anything like that in Afghanistan or Iraq or ...)(Please Note: Sometime in August 2013, Oconus.com changed the code on their page and our form doesn't work with them anymore, so a link to their page is the best we can do, sorry.)
