08 May 2008:

Hi!! Sorry it has been so long. We lost internet connection here for about a week, just getting things up and running again.
We are getting very busy in our OPAREA. Not too much down time right now.

Thank you everyone that has sent cards, letters, care packages! You have all gone above and beyond. We have gotten nice homemade cards and letters from an Elementary School in TX - Thanks Girls!!

A classy lady from SC is soooo good to us, she really spends too much time on us - Thank You! Another classy lady from CO spends way too much time on us as well - Thank You!! I have been writing Thank You notes and passing along letters to the others in the unit, encouraging them to write as well. Our mail is somewhat unreliable here, I sent a letter to Mom and it took about 4 weeks to get to her. But, we also had a snafu with our rendezvous base, we hadn't received mail or packages for 4 weeks, and then, when we did get a mail call - it looked like Christmas!! There were boxes to the ceiling in our trailer! The line was out the door.

Our adopted kitty here had 4 kittens 2 weeks ago, they are so cute, but somewhat afraid of us. Momma kitty is very protective. And our adopted doggie is getting big, we think she is about 8 months old. She is very playful and very curious of the kittens, she is getting beat up right now by momma kitty.

We are all working long hours on the water still, it is getting busy right now. Trying to keep morale up, but with the heat rising, it is tough. If anyone is reading this right now and would be kind enough to send water balloons, that would be awesome!! At least that would perk spirits a bit.

I have sent an updated photo of me and my crew. I cannot take too many photos in our OPAREA, and it is kinda hard taking a photo while driving a boat!

Thanks again to everyone who has sent packages, it is greatly appreciated. A small list of items requested from the boat teams:

Chapstick, sun block with bug repellant, Starkist Tuna, Propel powder packets for bottled water, Trio bars, fruit gummies

We are good with personal hygiene items for now. Thanks again everyone, God Bless!!

One photo of our unit is included, this is just before we deployed. The other two are of our boats on the water in the Gulf.

I just wanted to send a quick note to say THANK YOU. I was very surprised today at mail call that I had 11 packages and a letter. We passed out the care packages to our personnel this afternoon and I received a very nice letter from a lady in MN that wrote a very inspirational and uplifting letter.
We have been working long hours lately, and those packages couldn't have come at a better time. We all appreciate the time and care that went into it all. We will be writing thank you letters on watch this weekend.
I will write again very soon when I have more time, I just wanted to send a THANK YOU for the treats.

We are a small boat unit from California. We provide waterborne force protection to Navy and Allied ships to prevent another USS Cole incident. We are in an area that many people aren't aware of, providing waterborne protection to our Navy Ships at anchorage while refueling, either leaving the Gulf or entering it. Many days are spent at least 12 hours on the water in a small security boat, we are on shifts of 12 hrs on and 12 hrs off. We get relieved by other crews, but by the time we are swapped out and make our transit 'home', we have already been on the water at least 15 hrs.
We have no other military support, i.e. base, so we are separated into several areas around town, trying to blend in with the locals.
Letters are always welcome, some of us don't have a lot of family.
Sunscreen and chapstick is a good thing as well, we haven't been able to find any sunscreen in the local markets, and when you are on the water all day, you get a little baked out there.
I can't think of much else to add to this right now, thank you for all of your support, we are somewhat of a different unit than the others out here, not a whole lot of people know we are out here. When you think of the desert and Operation Enduring Freedom you immediately think of all the incredibly courageous men and women actually in the desert. We are in the desert, but we are also on the water providing protection for our forces afloat. And what alot of people don't realize is the waterborne threat that we have as well.
Well, thanks again for all of your support!

IMPORTANT! DO NOT PRINT THIS PAGE!!!

Why? Because this list changes all the time due to unit movements, soldier transfers, or even soldier casualties.
It is also illegal. ALL content on this site is copyright Any Soldier Inc.
DO NOT send any letter or package to a soldier's address unless you check this web site the same day you mail your packages.
Please do not burden the soldiers or the APO/FPO by sending things when the soldiers are gone. If a soldier is not listed here anymore then that soldier's address is expired. Check here often!

Note that some of the units do not have ranks shown on their addresses.
This is done at the unit's request, but ALL of our contacts ARE Servicemembers.

Be sure to change the "ATTN" line to "ATTN: Any Female Sailor if your package is for a female!

DO NOT use this program if you expect or require a reply!
DO NOT expect, or require, a reply from a Sailor!
A supporter said it perfectly, "I mean, these guys and gals have other things on their minds, y’know? Like...oh, STAYING ALIVE?"

(NOTE *): Effective 1 May 2006 this web site added a major layer of security to our contacts' information. This change is necessary to protect our troops and ensure that Any Soldier will continue to operate.
The ONLY changes are that the addresses of our contacts are now hidden and the number of addresses you can get are limited. You may obtain addresses simply by clicking on the link provided and correctly filling out the form, the address will then be emailed to you immediately.

(NOTE **): The number shown is how many times a form was submitted requesting this address. This does NOT necessarily mean that this contact will be helped by that many folks. Rule of thumb is that anything 5 requests or less may in fact be no support at all. No way to tell exactly unless the contact lets you know in his/her update how much support they are getting.

(Note 1.): Note that postage to APO AE and FPO AE (E = Europe) is only to NY where the connection to the APO/FPO (APO = Army Post Office)(FPO = Fleet Post Office) is, or to San Francisco for APO AP and FPO AP (P = Pacific), so you don't pay postage all the way to Iraq/Afghanistan. You might consider picking contacts closer to your mailing area to help cut the cost of mailing. If you live on the East Coast, pick "AE", West Coast, pick "AP", Midwest, well...uh, Thank You for your Support! ;)

New with us (December 2005) you might notice "APO AA" and "FPO AA". This is for units in the Caribbean/South America. Normally. However, due to the nature of some units they may be in Iraq but have an address showing "FPO AA". Mail addresses to "AA" goes out of Miami, Florida.

(Note 2.): Why are military addresses weird? There isn't a street address or city. What gives? Correct, just about everything about the military is weird to civilians. Military units are very mobile, they move around a lot, often they even become part of another unit. The APO (Army Post Office) and FPO (Fleet Post Office) assign APO and FPO numbers as needed, they are NOT static. An APO/FPO number may be for a large unit, or a location. An APO/FPO number for Baghdad today may be for Frankfurt tomorrow.

(Note 3.): The "Expect to not mail past" date is only an approximate and is one of the least reliable things on this web site. It is because of this that you must check often before you send anything to this unit. There are a few reasons this date is not reliable, to include: it IS the Military, we ARE dealing with the APO/FPO/DPO. The only thing that does not change in the military is that things will change. PLEASE NOTE that a Contact is dropped off our active list 30 days PRIOR to their date leaving to help avoid mail bouncing.

(Note 4.): (Removed for OPSEC reasons)

(Note 5.): The lines, "Contact with approx number of Soldiers:" and "Approx how may Female Soldiers:" have NOTHING to do with unit strength. They are approximately how many other Troops the Contacts believe they can get packages to. This helps you understand that you should not send 100 packages to someone who only deals with 10 Troops.
Don't forget that if your package is for a female Soldier, be sure to change "ATTN: Any Soldier®" to "ATTN: Any Female Soldier".

( Note 6.): This is simply where the unit this contact is from. This is NOT a true picture of the folks in the unit as most all units are made up of folks from all over the United States.) A "Composite Unit" is one made up of other units and is usually temporary for a particular mission.

( Note 7.): Updated APO/FPO/DPO mailing restrictions> courtesy of Oconus.com (gone now) (Note: About Restriction "U2": "U2 - Limited to First Class Letters", Box "R" is for retired personnel that live overseas and are still authorized an APO/FPO box. Their address will be something like Box 3345R. Doubt you will see anything like that in Afghanistan or Iraq or ...)(Please Note: Sometime in August 2013, Oconus.com changed the code on their page and our form doesn't work with them anymore, so a link to their page is the best we can do, sorry.)
