26 Jun 2009:

Our team would like to say thank you so very much to everybody who has sent so much too all the soldiers over here. Your gifts, letters and kind words have been an inspiration which has kept us in high spirits for so many months. It’s time now for a new group of soldiers to stand the watch and take on the responsibility of mentoring the Afghan Border Police. Within a few more weeks our team will have been moved about to other units in support of the Afghan mission and some returning home to our families. We don’t know exactly where we will be located individually or as small groups, but we wanted to make sure that we said our thanks before departing on our new adventures. You all have such wonderful and caring hearts which is why we volunteer to serve our country. Thank you one last time and we pray that this finds you all doing well and smiling.

Hello,

The team is back at camp after being outside the wire for multiple weeks while mentoring our Afghan Border Police counterparts along the Iran and Turkmenistan borders. We are all doing well and just working together to refit and load all our gear back up for another mission as soon as we get the order. For right now however we are recharging our batteries by contacting our family and friends while just kicking back for a bit.

The team received a bunch of packages from our caring friends who are located all over the States. We would like to share our appreciation and say Thank You to Walter S., John C., Jason & Amanda M., Rick M., John C., Birdcage Records, Delma O., Chistian H., Bob M., Ron H. & the Kids, MK Supply, Patrice D., Grace B., Maryanne B. and Barbara F. You all lift our spirits and bring joy to our days with just being who you all are.

The pictures with the little girls are from a school in the city of Herat. The team conducted a Humanitarian mission there where we delivered books, paper, pens, backpacks and children clothing. We had a great time and were very happy to see the girls reading and writing. Just watching the kids we could tell it was extremely strange and acquired with American soldiers in full gear handing them soccer balls and all sorts of other stuff. It's always great to be able to touch another person’s life and share in the happiness that you both have to give. The other picture is from a night mission out on the border and just enjoying the sunset. We thought you might like to check it out as well.

Once again thank you all so very much for taking the time to think of the soldiers. Please make sure that you share in both joy and laughter with all those around you each and everyday.

Thanks you,
Border Police Mentor Team

Hello Everyone,

We wanted to give an update of our activities and to say thank you to Barbara F., Brittany S. and Taylor H. for your letters of support. We sent thank you letter back with our warm wishes.

These updated photographs are from one of our missions where we go out and provide Humanitarian Aid to the people of Afghanistan. We work with the Afghan Border Police and provide flour, rice, beans, sugar, salt, cooking oil, clothing, blankets and coal for burning. We hope that the people remember our joint efforts and think of us as friends.

We appreciate all that you do for all the soldiers over here and say thank you.

Address Has Changed

Hello,

When I set up the account I made a mistake on the Address which should have been APO, not FPO. [All else in address is the same.]

01 Mar 2009
I first want to Thank everyone who has taken the time to look at this site and has shown some interest in helping out our soldiers out in the field. I can tell you, without any reservation, that your efforts are greatly appreciated and that your support allows allot of good men and women to make it through the day with smiles on their faces.
I would like to request, if possible, a couple of morale boosting items. If anyone could send out any game systems (Xbox 360's, PS2's, MP3 etc) and games, but only if funding will allow. We have a homemade basketball court here so any new basketballs or volleyballs would be great.
Our group is assigned as mentors to the Afghan Border Police and we are always out and about. When we are home at the main camp we work and live out of B-huts. These are no more than thin sheets of wood nailed together which don’t keep out the sand and tend to be pretty drafty. Electricity maxes out at 220. We have means of cooking our own meals and at times it ends up being items that are prepared in a microwave. We are a pretty diverse group of guys from California, Illinois, Washington state and New Mexico. Our numbers consist of a mix of young and older sailors/soldiers representing males and no females. Everyone of them loves baby wipes, and phone cards!

We have a microwave, freezer and fridge. Our team requests the following: Microwaveable food
Gummy Bears
Red Bull
Gum/Candy
Phone Cards
Blankets that fit double beds
White socks
Toothpaste
Cigars
Mouth wash
Underarmor cold weather gear, Black or Tan/Brown, (long sleeve ~ lg-xl)
Phone cards
Entertainment: DVD’s (Action/Sci-Fi/Horror, we can pass them around)
Video Games
Magazines (most any type, sports, hunting, motorcycle, diving skiing)

All items will go to the overall morale of the team and base for the young men and women that are stationed here. Thank you so very much for your time and support. I will try to write back to everyone.

IMPORTANT! DO NOT PRINT THIS PAGE!!!

Why? Because this list changes all the time due to unit movements, soldier transfers, or even soldier casualties.
It is also illegal. ALL content on this site is copyright Any Soldier Inc.
DO NOT send any letter or package to a soldier's address unless you check this web site the same day you mail your packages.
Please do not burden the soldiers or the APO/FPO by sending things when the soldiers are gone. If a soldier is not listed here anymore then that soldier's address is expired. Check here often!

Note that some of the units do not have ranks shown on their addresses.
This is done at the unit's request, but ALL of our contacts ARE Servicemembers.

Be sure to change the "ATTN" line to "ATTN: Any Female Sailor if your package is for a female!

DO NOT use this program if you expect or require a reply!
DO NOT expect, or require, a reply from a Sailor!
A supporter said it perfectly, "I mean, these guys and gals have other things on their minds, y’know? Like...oh, STAYING ALIVE?"

(NOTE *): Effective 1 May 2006 this web site added a major layer of security to our contacts' information. This change is necessary to protect our troops and ensure that Any Soldier will continue to operate.
The ONLY changes are that the addresses of our contacts are now hidden and the number of addresses you can get are limited. You may obtain addresses simply by clicking on the link provided and correctly filling out the form, the address will then be emailed to you immediately.

(NOTE **): The number shown is how many times a form was submitted requesting this address. This does NOT necessarily mean that this contact will be helped by that many folks. Rule of thumb is that anything 5 requests or less may in fact be no support at all. No way to tell exactly unless the contact lets you know in his/her update how much support they are getting.

(Note 1.): Note that postage to APO AE and FPO AE (E = Europe) is only to NY where the connection to the APO/FPO (APO = Army Post Office)(FPO = Fleet Post Office) is, or to San Francisco for APO AP and FPO AP (P = Pacific), so you don't pay postage all the way to Iraq/Afghanistan. You might consider picking contacts closer to your mailing area to help cut the cost of mailing. If you live on the East Coast, pick "AE", West Coast, pick "AP", Midwest, well...uh, Thank You for your Support! ;)

New with us (December 2005) you might notice "APO AA" and "FPO AA". This is for units in the Caribbean/South America. Normally. However, due to the nature of some units they may be in Iraq but have an address showing "FPO AA". Mail addresses to "AA" goes out of Miami, Florida.

(Note 2.): Why are military addresses weird? There isn't a street address or city. What gives? Correct, just about everything about the military is weird to civilians. Military units are very mobile, they move around a lot, often they even become part of another unit. The APO (Army Post Office) and FPO (Fleet Post Office) assign APO and FPO numbers as needed, they are NOT static. An APO/FPO number may be for a large unit, or a location. An APO/FPO number for Baghdad today may be for Frankfurt tomorrow.

(Note 3.): The "Expect to not mail past" date is only an approximate and is one of the least reliable things on this web site. It is because of this that you must check often before you send anything to this unit. There are a few reasons this date is not reliable, to include: it IS the Military, we ARE dealing with the APO/FPO/DPO. The only thing that does not change in the military is that things will change. PLEASE NOTE that a Contact is dropped off our active list 30 days PRIOR to their date leaving to help avoid mail bouncing.

(Note 4.): (Removed for OPSEC reasons)

(Note 5.): The lines, "Contact with approx number of Soldiers:" and "Approx how may Female Soldiers:" have NOTHING to do with unit strength. They are approximately how many other Troops the Contacts believe they can get packages to. This helps you understand that you should not send 100 packages to someone who only deals with 10 Troops.
Don't forget that if your package is for a female Soldier, be sure to change "ATTN: Any Soldier®" to "ATTN: Any Female Soldier".

( Note 6.): This is simply where the unit this contact is from. This is NOT a true picture of the folks in the unit as most all units are made up of folks from all over the United States.) A "Composite Unit" is one made up of other units and is usually temporary for a particular mission.

( Note 7.): Updated APO/FPO/DPO mailing restrictions> courtesy of Oconus.com (gone now) (Note: About Restriction "U2": "U2 - Limited to First Class Letters", Box "R" is for retired personnel that live overseas and are still authorized an APO/FPO box. Their address will be something like Box 3345R. Doubt you will see anything like that in Afghanistan or Iraq or ...)(Please Note: Sometime in August 2013, Oconus.com changed the code on their page and our form doesn't work with them anymore, so a link to their page is the best we can do, sorry.)
