01 Jul 2010:
Greetings from the sandbox! I can't believe it's almost been 2 months since my last update, time is flying by which is great because now we are 2 months closer to home. I would like to thank everyone for their support and for sending us packages. It has been a big help since it is tough to get supplies here and that the mail is so slow to get to us. I know the guys loved the Popsicles, protein cookies, vitamins, and we've got a couple of fat kids here who loved the snacks (not really fat the guy is skinny as a rail but eats mostly junk food so he was happy). Other than all of that we are pretty good on most toiletry items except shampoo and body wash which goes fast and good on drink mixes, but energy drinks are always welcome. Air fresheners are always welcome too because our camp is downwind from a chicken farm and it still smells like chicken poop. We are also in need of t-shirts (any color except white,50/50 cotton poly sizes Med, L, and XL), boot socks (size Large 9-12), and I've got a special request for my mechanics and operators who have been doing an outstanding job keeping this equipment up and running while beating their hands up on a daily basis. Yep you guessed it good work gloves like mechanix gloves or something similar to still be able to work with small parts and protect their hands(sizes Med, L, and XL. Well as far as everything else goes, we are still working hard and staying busy. The weather here has been very hot and dry like a blow dryer on high heat blowing in your face. Good stuff! We're all hanging in there and taking care of each other which is important over here. I appreciate all the support we are getting and again I would like to thank everyone for the packages you have sent to us. I know my guys have appreciated it very much. Take care and I hope everyone has a happy 4th of July.
Respectfully,
EO1 Matthew Deem

Hello again from Iraq! We are all doing fine and again want to thank you for your support! If not mentioned previously, we are attached to NMCB-21 ( Naval Mobile Construction Battalion), and we are doing new construction and repair work for the local populas. NMCB-21 is based out of Lakehurst, New Jersey. We have guys here from New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Connecticutt, Maine and some good ol' suthern boys from Georgia and Alabama. We had mentioned requested items in previous email and have since received a few more after people had time to think about it...Dr. Scholl's foot and sneaker spray, Old Spice deodorant, Stick Up air fresheners, energy drinks, Maxwell House Gold drip coffee, No.2 cone shaped coffee filters (we acquired a used coffee pot), baby wipes, q-tips, and any other toiletries that you can think of. We do have access to a DVD player in the MWR tent, so a few movies would be nice. Not sure if a valid request or not, but I said I would ask, the good ol' suthern boys are out of Salem regular in the box, Marlboro Lights, and Skoal citrus flavored. Any help in that area would be appreciated.
Roll Tide, Go Dawgs and whatever northerners say!
Thanks again,
Matt and Greg

Greetings from Iraq! I am Matthew Deem and I am a Navy Seabee from Columbus, Georgia assigned to NMCB-21. I am the crew leader of a small detachment of seabees who are working on a remote project. We live on a small camp which has 220-volt power and 3-4 man rooms. We have no access to any store, PX(Base Exchange), or anything to purchase the common items we all use on a daily basis. This is the main reason why I am asking for your support in helping me to take care of my guys. Everything has to be mailed in to us which is a slow process of about 2-3weeks. We are in need of toilettry items like shampoo(head and shoulders, and any other will do), soap, body wash, toothpaste/toothbrush, razors, shaving cream, Q-tips, deoderant(gel and stick, Speed Stick is want they like), a few loofah sponges(i've got a couple of pretty boys who like to take care of their skin), lotion, sunblock(SPF30 or more), vitamins, tylenol/motrin, and some snacks would be great like slim jims, meal bars(half my crew are health nuts so not too many sweets). Well that should about do it for now. I thank you for supporting us and what we are doing, I truly appreciate it. I will follow up with yall in a couple of weeks and to see if I have any more requests. I'm sorry due to our mission we can't take any pictures or anything else of that nature, but know that we are here doing what we can because of the support we get from all of you. Thank you and god bless. Seabees Can Do!!
The difficult we do at once, the impossible takes a bit longer.
Matthew Deem

IMPORTANT! DO NOT PRINT THIS PAGE!!!

Why? Because this list changes all the time due to unit movements, soldier transfers, or even soldier casualties.
It is also illegal. ALL content on this site is copyright Any Soldier Inc.
DO NOT send any letter or package to a soldier's address unless you check this web site the same day you mail your packages.
Please do not burden the soldiers or the APO/FPO by sending things when the soldiers are gone. If a soldier is not listed here anymore then that soldier's address is expired. Check here often!

Note that some of the units do not have ranks shown on their addresses.
This is done at the unit's request, but ALL of our contacts ARE Servicemembers.

Be sure to change the "ATTN" line to "ATTN: Any Female Sailor if your package is for a female!

DO NOT use this program if you expect or require a reply!
DO NOT expect, or require, a reply from a Sailor!
A supporter said it perfectly, "I mean, these guys and gals have other things on their minds, y’know? Like...oh, STAYING ALIVE?"

(NOTE *): Effective 1 May 2006 this web site added a major layer of security to our contacts' information. This change is necessary to protect our troops and ensure that Any Soldier will continue to operate.
The ONLY changes are that the addresses of our contacts are now hidden and the number of addresses you can get are limited. You may obtain addresses simply by clicking on the link provided and correctly filling out the form, the address will then be emailed to you immediately.

(NOTE **): The number shown is how many times a form was submitted requesting this address. This does NOT necessarily mean that this contact will be helped by that many folks. Rule of thumb is that anything 5 requests or less may in fact be no support at all. No way to tell exactly unless the contact lets you know in his/her update how much support they are getting.

(Note 1.): Note that postage to APO AE and FPO AE (E = Europe) is only to NY where the connection to the APO/FPO (APO = Army Post Office)(FPO = Fleet Post Office) is, or to San Francisco for APO AP and FPO AP (P = Pacific), so you don't pay postage all the way to Iraq/Afghanistan. You might consider picking contacts closer to your mailing area to help cut the cost of mailing. If you live on the East Coast, pick "AE", West Coast, pick "AP", Midwest, well...uh, Thank You for your Support! ;)

New with us (December 2005) you might notice "APO AA" and "FPO AA". This is for units in the Caribbean/South America. Normally. However, due to the nature of some units they may be in Iraq but have an address showing "FPO AA". Mail addresses to "AA" goes out of Miami, Florida.

(Note 2.): Why are military addresses weird? There isn't a street address or city. What gives? Correct, just about everything about the military is weird to civilians. Military units are very mobile, they move around a lot, often they even become part of another unit. The APO (Army Post Office) and FPO (Fleet Post Office) assign APO and FPO numbers as needed, they are NOT static. An APO/FPO number may be for a large unit, or a location. An APO/FPO number for Baghdad today may be for Frankfurt tomorrow.

(Note 3.): The "Expect to not mail past" date is only an approximate and is one of the least reliable things on this web site. It is because of this that you must check often before you send anything to this unit. There are a few reasons this date is not reliable, to include: it IS the Military, we ARE dealing with the APO/FPO/DPO. The only thing that does not change in the military is that things will change. PLEASE NOTE that a Contact is dropped off our active list 30 days PRIOR to their date leaving to help avoid mail bouncing.

(Note 4.): (Removed for OPSEC reasons)

(Note 5.): The lines, "Contact with approx number of Soldiers:" and "Approx how may Female Soldiers:" have NOTHING to do with unit strength. They are approximately how many other Troops the Contacts believe they can get packages to. This helps you understand that you should not send 100 packages to someone who only deals with 10 Troops.
Don't forget that if your package is for a female Soldier, be sure to change "ATTN: Any Soldier®" to "ATTN: Any Female Soldier".

( Note 6.): This is simply where the unit this contact is from. This is NOT a true picture of the folks in the unit as most all units are made up of folks from all over the United States.) A "Composite Unit" is one made up of other units and is usually temporary for a particular mission.

( Note 7.): Updated APO/FPO/DPO mailing restrictions> courtesy of Oconus.com (gone now) (Note: About Restriction "U2": "U2 - Limited to First Class Letters", Box "R" is for retired personnel that live overseas and are still authorized an APO/FPO box. Their address will be something like Box 3345R. Doubt you will see anything like that in Afghanistan or Iraq or ...)(Please Note: Sometime in August 2013, Oconus.com changed the code on their page and our form doesn't work with them anymore, so a link to their page is the best we can do, sorry.)
