24 Sep 2005:
Howdy from the gulf. Once again I would like to thank everybody who took the time mail a package or even to sit down and write a letter to us out here. Your help really made a difference for us. It was great because sometimes we would get shampoo just as we were running and some guys would get things like smokes just as they were running out. Anyway the heat is starting to die down out here just a bit. Some of us were "considering" putting our blouses on during the evening hours cause it was getting a little chilly. Alot of the top dogs in the Navy have started taking a little interest in our living standards and have started to try and help. Sometimes thats a good thing and sometimes its not. The intention is well meant though. I thank you all and so does my detachment. Unfortunately I would like to request that no more mail or packages be sent to us since we are short timing it. Everyone is excited about coming home.
Very Respectfully

Hi yall,
This is just another update to let everyone know we are still here doing the job. We have recieved a fair amount of goodies and letters from great citizens all around the country. I/we owe you all a big thanks. Yall are the real heroes for sticking by our sides through all this. Everyone is in good health and we are proud to say no casualties. Although we did have to send one of our finest home a few days ago. Cant disclose medical information but I can say he wont be sitting down for a while. Nothing major. We have our little tiffs just like every disfunctional family but in the end we all support each other and have one anothers backs. This is one of the few places where someone wont get mad at ya for throwing a water balloon at them. They will most likely come up and thank you. Well thanks for all the support, the letters, and just plain caring. I have tried to respond to everything recieved but sometimes a few things slip thru the cracks. Yall keep up the good work on the home front and we will do the same here.

Incredible. We have been sitting out here for almost a month now. Well, sometimes they cant get our mail to us on the oil platforms because there are no ships around so it all stacks up at KNB. But low and behold today we got alot of letters from yall and some packages too. People were even kind enough to send stuff for the ladies. They are hard core but sometimes we all forget that they are still, of course, they are ladies. They were surprised and appreciative. We love the snacks and little extras. Its hard to get my guys (and girls) to write back to pen pals so I am gonna try and take on the task myself. Of course I still gotta talk to the guys on the midnight shift. I took some pics with the mail yall sent so I just gotta download em. But I hope yall can take a look at the other ones we have. Thank you all so much, I think it is pretty awesome this thing works. All I can say its hottttt here. I will update as soon as possible. Thanx again.

First of all I hope this works cause I know the troops will love it. We dont have access to our .mil accounts so our fingers are crossed. Well we are Mobile Security and an anti terrorism unit in the Navy supporting the cause. We are stationed out of Portsmouth, VA. We arrived a short time ago but we will be here for a while. Living conditions arent the greatest but things could always be worse. We are basically sitting on a big pile of rust they call an oil terminal which is the life blood of funds for Iraq. Food is always in short supply so I think protein, creatine, NOX or things like that are requested. Alot of the guys and girls are big health gurus. We are pretty much set on gear. We have no sinks, stoves, or pots and pans. We shower outside. Its gonna get real hot (its hot now) since summer is approaching. Everybody needs cigarettes. A few of the guys also like to dip mostly Kodiak wintergreen long cut or copenhagen. We have a little bit of reading material but people like magazines like Maxim, Stuff, Sports Illustrated, Womens weekly ( for the ladies of course). Beef jerky is a good thing to to snack on while we are on post. Use your imagination if you pick us to send to. Also a lot of guys are real young and its their first time doing something so far from home for so long so even a letter would be appreciated.
Just so you know a little about me I have been in the Navy for about 9 years. I used to be a cook on board a submarine so this is a big change but its great.

IMPORTANT! DO NOT PRINT THIS PAGE!!!

Why? Because this list changes all the time due to unit movements, soldier transfers, or even soldier casualties.
It is also illegal. ALL content on this site is copyright Any Soldier Inc.
DO NOT send any letter or package to a soldier's address unless you check this web site the same day you mail your packages.
Please do not burden the soldiers or the APO/FPO by sending things when the soldiers are gone. If a soldier is not listed here anymore then that soldier's address is expired. Check here often!

Note that some of the units do not have ranks shown on their addresses.
This is done at the unit's request, but ALL of our contacts ARE Servicemembers.

Be sure to change the "ATTN" line to "ATTN: Any Female Sailor if your package is for a female!

DO NOT use this program if you expect or require a reply!
DO NOT expect, or require, a reply from a Sailor!
A supporter said it perfectly, "I mean, these guys and gals have other things on their minds, y’know? Like...oh, STAYING ALIVE?"

(NOTE *): Effective 1 May 2006 this web site added a major layer of security to our contacts' information. This change is necessary to protect our troops and ensure that Any Soldier will continue to operate.
The ONLY changes are that the addresses of our contacts are now hidden and the number of addresses you can get are limited. You may obtain addresses simply by clicking on the link provided and correctly filling out the form, the address will then be emailed to you immediately.

(NOTE **): The number shown is how many times a form was submitted requesting this address. This does NOT necessarily mean that this contact will be helped by that many folks. Rule of thumb is that anything 5 requests or less may in fact be no support at all. No way to tell exactly unless the contact lets you know in his/her update how much support they are getting.

(Note 1.): Note that postage to APO AE and FPO AE (E = Europe) is only to NY where the connection to the APO/FPO (APO = Army Post Office)(FPO = Fleet Post Office) is, or to San Francisco for APO AP and FPO AP (P = Pacific), so you don't pay postage all the way to Iraq/Afghanistan. You might consider picking contacts closer to your mailing area to help cut the cost of mailing. If you live on the East Coast, pick "AE", West Coast, pick "AP", Midwest, well...uh, Thank You for your Support! ;)

New with us (December 2005) you might notice "APO AA" and "FPO AA". This is for units in the Caribbean/South America. Normally. However, due to the nature of some units they may be in Iraq but have an address showing "FPO AA". Mail addresses to "AA" goes out of Miami, Florida.

(Note 2.): Why are military addresses weird? There isn't a street address or city. What gives? Correct, just about everything about the military is weird to civilians. Military units are very mobile, they move around a lot, often they even become part of another unit. The APO (Army Post Office) and FPO (Fleet Post Office) assign APO and FPO numbers as needed, they are NOT static. An APO/FPO number may be for a large unit, or a location. An APO/FPO number for Baghdad today may be for Frankfurt tomorrow.

(Note 3.): The "Expect to not mail past" date is only an approximate and is one of the least reliable things on this web site. It is because of this that you must check often before you send anything to this unit. There are a few reasons this date is not reliable, to include: it IS the Military, we ARE dealing with the APO/FPO/DPO. The only thing that does not change in the military is that things will change. PLEASE NOTE that a Contact is dropped off our active list 30 days PRIOR to their date leaving to help avoid mail bouncing.

(Note 4.): (Removed for OPSEC reasons)

(Note 5.): The lines, "Contact with approx number of Soldiers:" and "Approx how may Female Soldiers:" have NOTHING to do with unit strength. They are approximately how many other Troops the Contacts believe they can get packages to. This helps you understand that you should not send 100 packages to someone who only deals with 10 Troops.
Don't forget that if your package is for a female Soldier, be sure to change "ATTN: Any Soldier®" to "ATTN: Any Female Soldier".

( Note 6.): This is simply where the unit this contact is from. This is NOT a true picture of the folks in the unit as most all units are made up of folks from all over the United States.) A "Composite Unit" is one made up of other units and is usually temporary for a particular mission.

( Note 7.): Updated APO/FPO/DPO mailing restrictions> courtesy of Oconus.com (gone now) (Note: About Restriction "U2": "U2 - Limited to First Class Letters", Box "R" is for retired personnel that live overseas and are still authorized an APO/FPO box. Their address will be something like Box 3345R. Doubt you will see anything like that in Afghanistan or Iraq or ...)(Please Note: Sometime in August 2013, Oconus.com changed the code on their page and our form doesn't work with them anymore, so a link to their page is the best we can do, sorry.)
