06 Sep 2011:
For our wonderful supporters,

I want to take this time to let you know how much we all appreciate EVERYTHING you have done for our group since being out here. There have been letters, cards, packages, snacks, hygiene items, and plenty of love packed into each and every item recieved. Your care and thoughtfulness has really gone a long way for the morale and happiness of our group. I cannot tell you how many smiles you've given, how many times you've made someone laugh, or how many times they just said thank you in just a quiet part of their own day while reading your notes and letters.

It is with a happy but sad heart that I announce that this will be my last update. We will no longer be recieving mail after October 4th.
So, in a last hooyah, anything sent out to us BEFORE September 25th we will get. After that, it will sadly be returned. We will still be out here for some time after that (few months) but will not have access to mail, internet, or any of the daily luxuries we have been accustomed to. With that being said, may I make one last request?

Munchies......Our access to any junk food will be over once mail stops.
Doritos, cheetos, bean dip, queso, salsa, jerky, cookies...you name it. If it's classified as a munchie then we'll eat it. Candy falls in this category too. We try and have a get together every once in a while and I think it would be great to show up with a box or two of junk food for everyone to enjoy.

Again, thank you to Any Sailor/Soldier for this wonderful webpage. We have met so many caring and proud Americans that support us. We all love you!

Signing out,
AE2 Valerie Mascho and the CRAM-9 family.

Wow, has it really been 2 months since I've updated this? That goes to show you how fast the time is flying over here! (That's a really good thing!) First off, I want to thank everyone that has sent care packages, letters, magazines, words of encouragment, cards and prayers. I've tried my best to respond and ask the other guys to show their appreciation also. If you haven't heard from me, I do apologize!

Things are changing quite a bit over here with the drawdown and a lot of things are closing down which means it's harder to find most needed things at the one main store. With the daily heat index in the 120's most of us try our best to stay indoors to beat the heat. Night time does bring some relief with the temps dipping in the upper 90's and low 100's

Just updating the request list a little bit, we are sitting pretty good on reading material and have enough for the rest of the deployment so thank you for the books and magazines!
Some guys are requesting microwave meals such as the healthy choice ones (the green tupperware kind), tunafish meals, crackers (ritz), and other non-perishable easy to cook meals. Also baby wipes and electronic wipes. Still also getting requests for protein and workout supplements from the gym rats along with white low cut socks (moisture wicking specifically) sizes ranging from men's 8-13 and womens 8-11.
Also if you can put a self addresed envalope in the package, some of the guys would love to write thank you notes!
Have a fine Navy day!

02 Jun 2011

I hope everyone had a great Memorial day weekend, we had a nice BBQ and enjoyed some burgers, volleyball, and plenty of Sun. Some of our guys are even getting ambushed with water baloon attacks so we are having "some" fun out here.
We are getting word that the exchanges will be closing down in the coming months so it's a good idea to start stock piling up necessities because once they run out they won't be replacing them. Please if you can with the heat getting in the 120's separate the food from the hygiene items. We love the food but when it starts tasting like axe bodywash it leaves a bit of an aftertaste. Maybe ziplog bag the liquids.

I do have a special request from the females this month. Tampons and pads (super plus to regular) (tampax pearl, kotex, playtex etc.) and smelly bodywash. What we don't use, we share with the other ladies out here by putting the extras in the female caddilac. Also venus razors and shaving cream.

The gym rats are requesting things like tuna packets and other quick and easy protein type meals. (also razors and shaving cream for the guys)
Everything else is current :)

A special thank you to:
Jessica's Hope project for the Muscle milk and vitamins, they were gone QUICK!
Susan O. McM.
Walter P
Janet C
Mr. & Mrs. Mck (Go NAVY!)

Thank you all for everything you have done and we do our best to let you know how much we appreciate your support. If you put in a self addressed envalope it makes it easier for some of the other guys to write some thank you notes (without stamps they're free!) or include an email address!

We are all very appreciative and thank you for everything you have done! I hope the picture just shows you some of the smiles you have put on the faces of our guys!

02 May 2011

Well I hope everyone is as happy as us out here to hear the good news!
Talk about a morale booster! Speaking of morale boosters, we have been getting some awesome care packages and letters in the mail lately. You guys are truly awesome and words cannot express how much we appreciate each and every one of you that support us. The candy and snacks are very much appreciated and they are always the first thing to disappear! The hygiene items are wonderful and I can't tell you how glad these guys are to get these things. I do try my best to write everyone that sends something and let them know how their gifts were distributed and appreciated.

It's almost 1/3 of the way through deployment and quite a few guys are starting to get into the gym routine and work on their figures. If anyone has some things like protein bars, shakes, muscle milk, vitamins, and other supplements that the guys love using I know that they would be much appreciated and put to good use. Some guys are bulking up and others are toning. We all want to get looking good for our wives/husbands/significant others. There are also some long distance runners in our group and things like white injinji toesocks are a lifesaver when it comes to preventing blisters. Also some anti-chaffe bars and some drink energy supplements.

Everything else on the list is current, although I think we're good on the magazines for a few months! Thank you all so very much for your support and know that we are all out here for you! God bless!

12 Apr 2011

I hope everyone is having a wonderful April! We are all working very hard and in our 4th month of deployment. It is starting to get very routine for all of us but everyone always looks forward to mail call!
To the person that has been sending the magazine subscriptions, THANK YOU!! We have been getting mail from everywhere from Bangkok to Florida! The candy is always the first thing to disappear along with the protein bars!
The sand storms are starting to hit us pretty hard and going outside is more out of necessity than anything. The heat is also steadily rising. We are all getting into that "doing everything the same everyday" daze and anything to break up the tempo is much appreciated.
Our guys need to have some fun! If there's any nerf guns lying around, water baloons, silly string, or "pooters" I can promise they'd be put to good use. Also some music or movies would be nice to have, most of us have Itunes and share our CD's. Heck even some pink flamingos or pinwheels to decorate our trailers would be good for some laughs. And as always, thank you to everyone that has been sending words of encouragment and thoughts and prayers.

AE2(AW) Mascho

p.s. The first whoopee cushion that we got was abused until it was no longer servicable....RIP whoopee......

Hello, I just wanted to give an update for us out here. There has been some miscommunication at the post office out here and some mail was getting through to us and others were getting returned to sender. This was even the case for some personal mail for the guys so you can imagine the heartbrake for them. I have just been made aware of this and I wanted to give you all a heads up that the issue has been fixed.
For those of you that sent out packages that got returned, I am sorry.
Please know that the address is still correct, and we are all still out here :-) Thanks for understanding!

Hey everyone, we are all working pretty hard out here and most of us are looking forward to taking our R&R in the next few months. I would like to say that we have been getting some care packages here and there, and they are always shared and greatly appreciated. The weather is staying around a steady 60's-70's and it is the perfect temperature for some chocolate before it gets too hot.
Some of the guys are asking for some sunglasses that have the foam on the inside since it helps keep the dust out of the eyes.
Also some tan bandannas or some face covers to keep the sand out of our lungs, the pending heat brings dry spells and dust storms kick up.
Everything else is still current on the list below, thank you all and god bless!

Just an update to let you all know that we are working hard out here and your support is very much appreciated. The guys here are loving the packages and cards!

We recieved our first care package and letter today, We all want to send out a big thank you to Mr Rob Hendrich from Buffalo Grove, IL. Those flashlights are much appreciated and all the guys had big smiles on their faces. Thank you so much! The Jerky was gone as soon as I opened the package!
Another thank you to Katie Dutton for your card and words of support and encouragment.

Everything on the list below is still current minus flashlights although I'm sure some double AA batteries may be needed in a few months! Thanks again and God bless!

Hello,
I am representing all of the single guys and gals that I work with in my unit stationed in XXXX XXXX. We have about XXXX guys and XXXX ladies. We are all out here as volunteers working with an army unit providing base protection from incoming mortars and rockets. We have about a year out here so time will be dragging. Thankfully I have a wonderful supporting husband that sends me care packages but most of the guys that I am out here with don't have family or support. Which is why I am signing up for this and I am representing them. I want them to know that someone cares about them and help the morale of the group. I've asked around to the guys about things they would like to see in a care package and here are some of their responses:

"Candy and maxim magazines"
"mechanix gloves and tactical gear"
"letters, jerky, and dvds"
"Protein bars and shakes"
"dove bodywash and deoderant and games"
"axe bodywash, knives, flashlights, and multitools"
"green socks and army brown tshirts"
"anything electronic to help pass the time"

The ladies are requesting things like deoderant, smelly bodywash, loofahs, chocolate, towels, twin sheet sets, and anything to make the CHU's feel more like home. There is 220V power in the CHU's and we have fridges and microwaves available. Hand written letters and cards are nice especially around the holidays.

Thank you for your support and god bless!

IMPORTANT! DO NOT PRINT THIS PAGE!!!

Why? Because this list changes all the time due to unit movements, soldier transfers, or even soldier casualties.
It is also illegal. ALL content on this site is copyright Any Soldier Inc.
DO NOT send any letter or package to a soldier's address unless you check this web site the same day you mail your packages.
Please do not burden the soldiers or the APO/FPO by sending things when the soldiers are gone. If a soldier is not listed here anymore then that soldier's address is expired. Check here often!

Note that some of the units do not have ranks shown on their addresses.
This is done at the unit's request, but ALL of our contacts ARE Servicemembers.

Be sure to change the "ATTN" line to "ATTN: Any Female Sailor if your package is for a female!

DO NOT use this program if you expect or require a reply!
DO NOT expect, or require, a reply from a Sailor!
A supporter said it perfectly, "I mean, these guys and gals have other things on their minds, y’know? Like...oh, STAYING ALIVE?"

(NOTE *): Effective 1 May 2006 this web site added a major layer of security to our contacts' information. This change is necessary to protect our troops and ensure that Any Soldier will continue to operate.
The ONLY changes are that the addresses of our contacts are now hidden and the number of addresses you can get are limited. You may obtain addresses simply by clicking on the link provided and correctly filling out the form, the address will then be emailed to you immediately.

(NOTE **): The number shown is how many times a form was submitted requesting this address. This does NOT necessarily mean that this contact will be helped by that many folks. Rule of thumb is that anything 5 requests or less may in fact be no support at all. No way to tell exactly unless the contact lets you know in his/her update how much support they are getting.

(Note 1.): Note that postage to APO AE and FPO AE (E = Europe) is only to NY where the connection to the APO/FPO (APO = Army Post Office)(FPO = Fleet Post Office) is, or to San Francisco for APO AP and FPO AP (P = Pacific), so you don't pay postage all the way to Iraq/Afghanistan. You might consider picking contacts closer to your mailing area to help cut the cost of mailing. If you live on the East Coast, pick "AE", West Coast, pick "AP", Midwest, well...uh, Thank You for your Support! ;)

New with us (December 2005) you might notice "APO AA" and "FPO AA". This is for units in the Caribbean/South America. Normally. However, due to the nature of some units they may be in Iraq but have an address showing "FPO AA". Mail addresses to "AA" goes out of Miami, Florida.

(Note 2.): Why are military addresses weird? There isn't a street address or city. What gives? Correct, just about everything about the military is weird to civilians. Military units are very mobile, they move around a lot, often they even become part of another unit. The APO (Army Post Office) and FPO (Fleet Post Office) assign APO and FPO numbers as needed, they are NOT static. An APO/FPO number may be for a large unit, or a location. An APO/FPO number for Baghdad today may be for Frankfurt tomorrow.

(Note 3.): The "Expect to not mail past" date is only an approximate and is one of the least reliable things on this web site. It is because of this that you must check often before you send anything to this unit. There are a few reasons this date is not reliable, to include: it IS the Military, we ARE dealing with the APO/FPO/DPO. The only thing that does not change in the military is that things will change. PLEASE NOTE that a Contact is dropped off our active list 30 days PRIOR to their date leaving to help avoid mail bouncing.

(Note 4.): (Removed for OPSEC reasons)

(Note 5.): The lines, "Contact with approx number of Soldiers:" and "Approx how may Female Soldiers:" have NOTHING to do with unit strength. They are approximately how many other Troops the Contacts believe they can get packages to. This helps you understand that you should not send 100 packages to someone who only deals with 10 Troops.
Don't forget that if your package is for a female Soldier, be sure to change "ATTN: Any Soldier®" to "ATTN: Any Female Soldier".

( Note 6.): This is simply where the unit this contact is from. This is NOT a true picture of the folks in the unit as most all units are made up of folks from all over the United States.) A "Composite Unit" is one made up of other units and is usually temporary for a particular mission.

( Note 7.): Updated APO/FPO/DPO mailing restrictions> courtesy of Oconus.com (gone now) (Note: About Restriction "U2": "U2 - Limited to First Class Letters", Box "R" is for retired personnel that live overseas and are still authorized an APO/FPO box. Their address will be something like Box 3345R. Doubt you will see anything like that in Afghanistan or Iraq or ...)(Please Note: Sometime in August 2013, Oconus.com changed the code on their page and our form doesn't work with them anymore, so a link to their page is the best we can do, sorry.)
